This is a lovely hotel with a great music vibe. The staff were really wonderful, the room was nice and the included breakfast was a nice surprise! We stayed 4 nights. We had an accessible room which was nice except for the extremely slippery shower. Fortunately the next place we stayed had a good shower I could use since I only braved the 'skating rink' once. The only other fault was no room service the last 2 days (towels, garbage, bed making) and giving nice chocolate the first 2 nights then dreadful candy the last 2 nights at turndown. I'm not sure why they do this when you pay the same price each night but the staff said it's the way it is. Next time I would only stay 2 nights instead of 4.

Rockstar Stay at The JAG – St. John’s Gem Absolutely loved my stay at The JAG Hotel. This place nails it on room, service, and location — all top-tier. You’re right downtown, steps from George Street, the waterfront, and literally on Harbour Drive. Couldn’t be easier to explore St. John’s from here. The room was bright, spacious, and spotless, with tons of lighting and more than enough outlets for charging all my gear. Everything about the setup felt modern and smart — clearly designed for real-world travelers, not just brochure photos. The bathroom was a standout. Big, clean, and functional, with a roomy walk-in shower that lets you choose between a rain head or handheld nozzle. Small touch, big win. On top of that, you’ve got live music in the bar, great food and drinks on-site, and fantastic staff — from the front desk to the valets and doormen, everyone was friendly and helpful without being over the top. And the vibe? Unreal. The entire hotel is wrapped in a music theme that actually works — cool artwork everywhere, and that unique atmosphere that makes you want to take photos of the hallway. Highly recommend. Whether you’re here for a night or a few days, The JAG hits all the marks. Would absolutely stay again.

Great modern hotel and location. The Soundhouse is a wonderful concert venue. So nice to be able to go to the concert to and from your room and not having yo go outside. Amazing pictures everywhere of famous stars frim Elvis to Mick Jager.

Jag is a good hotel, and the rock 'n' roll theme makes it really stand out. Our room was comfortable and quite well equipped. The bed was very comfortable. The hotel is located in a prime area of St. John's, near the restaurants on Water and Duckworth streets, and not far from Signal Hill and Cape Spear. Our room had a commanding view of the harbour. We were told our room wasn't ready when we tried to check in at the posted check-in time, so we decided to have a (rather expensive) drink at the bar. We ended up waiting about an hour. I asked at the front desk if they would comp anything for us, and they gave us breakfast vouchers for the three days we were staying, which I thought was more than fair. One potential downside of the hotel is that the only parking they offer is valet parking, and a daily fee applies. Whenever you need your car you must show your stub to one of the friendly "valets," who retrieves your car for you. Retrieval was always quick, and a valet was always available, but the process felt a little awkward. In keeping with the theme, rock music, mostly from big arena-filling bands from the 70s and 80s, is played almost everywhere (not in the hallways near the rooms, thankfully). As you walk around, whatever song is playing follows you. Posters of rock stars and classic album covers are everywhere - even in the rooms. At first, I found it all a little off-putting, but eventually I warmed up to it. I'd definitely stay here again.

A fantastic experience! And this hotel is truly an experience. A place you can go as your reason to visit St. John’s, rather than a place to stay while visiting st. John's. Only thing negative i could say is parking and communication about parking is lacking. Apparently they have valet parking but they are not clear on how that works. I think they charge you to take your car and park it on the street somewhere. Which your other option is to wander around and see if you can find parking.

Overall it's a great experience. Very luxurious for the price. Everything was clean and well taken care of. If your not going to take advantage of the Valet parking finding a parking spot would be the only major issue I could foresee. It is a bit of a maze to get around but there is something to admire around every corner.

Twelve of us stayed in the new section last evening and we enjoyed the hotel a great deal. We all met at Zimmy's for breakfast this morning. Our very friendly, attentive waiter served coffee and water immediately upon arrival and our orders were taken within minutes of us arriving. However, this is where things took a down turn. While some of us were served our breakfast within a reasonable amount of time, it took one hour for two of us to be served. Also, most were served completely wrong meals or wrong parts of their meals, several times. It took one of our friends five times before he finally received the correct order. Eggs came out too burned to eat, some were served the wrong meats, one was told that eggs were not part of the breakfast he ordered, even though eggs were included in the description of the breakfast (when our waiter questioned the kitchen staff about this, they said they would make an exception this time and add eggs to the order). Some of the toast orders were even wrong. While the food itself was good when it was all finally served, some had already eaten their entire meals, others had half of their meal eaten, before two of us were finally served. I can not speak for others in our party, but personally, I don't blame our waiter who remained calm, friendly and apologetic the whole time. I do hope the kitchen staff gets a chance to read this review to assist them in doing better in the future. Also, I hope it helps management realize that more, better trained staff is needed. Thank you

Came from England to visit family in Newfoundland and stayed at the JAG hotel for 7 nights. I couldn’t recommend this hotel more! My partner and I had an amazing experience. We stayed in the new building (blues) and the queen room was very spacious. The interior and finishes in the room were amazing. The bathroom was also very modern and clean. The shower had a rainfall shower head as well as a standard one. The vibe of the hotel overall made our experience even better. We really enjoyed the pool and all facilities. Although it is a music hotel we never heard anything in our room, the rooms seem to be very soundproof! The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Location was also a plus. Would definitely stay here again.
